From there, Kane hated his father and wanted him out of his life and sent to hell. But when Kane told his father that he wanted to go out at sea and sail on ocean liners, he got slapped in the face, saying, "I'm ashamed of you! You don't deserve to go out there in the dangerous seas to work on filthy and hideous ships! You'll never mount to anything!". Kane would have done anything to gain his father's love and he reached a point where he wanted to do odd jobs to earn some money for his family survival. He only lived with his son for a very short time. His father, however, was never there for him and never had the father figure that he wanted because he was an alcoholic. He had always loved his mother and never had a problem with her. Kane was born with a developmental disorder called Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD or AD/HD or ADD), which he was diagnosed with at the age of two. His life had been difficult and hard and his childhood was disturbing. Kane was one of the youngest and newest members of the White Star Line, only serving the company for two years. A really tall, but fine looking young man, age eighteen and wearing similar a uniform to that of a captain would, called Kane was standing on the port bridge wing along with another young man, slightly older than him, named John Bigalow who was wearing a blue sailors uniform, both looking on with silent curiosity and a hint of excitement. As Titanic waited patiently, hundreds of people started to board her. Millions of people traveled across the long stretch of water and it was because of this traffic that the great liners were built, the bigger the ship, the more immigrants they could carry. America was where Titanic's real roots lay, the land of opportunity, immigrants trying to seek a new life in the USA. Her maiden voyage was intended to be the first of many cross-Atlantic journeys between Southampton in England, Cherbourg in France, Queenstown in Ireland and New York in the United States, returning via Plymouth in England on the eastbound leg. She had arrived previously on April 4th, sailing from Belfast. She was standing at Berth 44, awaiting the arrival of her passengers and the remainder of her crew. It was the beginning of the Titanic's maiden voyage.
